Tommy thought her name was Elizabeth Shipley, but 1871 census says Caroline.
BME Gee tapes:
BME Gee said her grandmother died when she was c.7 (i.e. 1899), but Tommy's notes said she died c.1905, so death date needs checking.
BME Gee said that her Grandmother Whitby used to say that General Booth (founder of the Salvation Army) was a relative, but she never learned the precise connection.
Caroline married John Whitby, son of Unknown and Unknown, on 12 Apr 1852 in Sneinton. (John Whitby was born 1830 or 1832 in Sutton Bonington, Notts and died in 1899.)
