• History: Local - Woodborough. The Dover Beck falls from Dorket head into the village of Woodborough and runs down the main road through the village. In earlier times there was a settlement believed to be of Anglo saxon origin this was known as Udenburg (Ude's fort) this is located in local woods known as Fox Wood the are still the remains of an oval Iron Age earthwork and hill fort with evidence of a Roman occupation in later years.


The village as many in the area are based on agriculture, how ever as other local villages the advent of the stocking machine made its mark on the village. The Listed Grade II 12th century church in the village has a Norman Font and North porch doorway with later additions of a tower in the 13th century containing 4 bells (this gives name to the local pub on the opposite side of the road called the Four Bells) the church . The choir stalls, canopies and reading desk was presented to the church Christmas of 1893 by Mansfield Parkyns of Woodborough Hall in memory of his wife.

• History: Local, 1826, Woodborough, Nottingham, England. By the end of 1826 an underground sewer had been installed to replace the open sough which provided drainage for the house in Long Road and the market area was levelled and raised using soil from Gallows Hill.
